3 new tees on Glennz

markj | April 29, 2008 | 9:09 pm

A bit about Glennz and these ace tees:

Hello, I’m Glenn Jones, a graphic designer and illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand.

Welcome to my new store
So what’s the story? Well, I’ve been designing t-shirts as a bit of a hobby for the
last few years, so now I decided to spend a bit more time doing that. I’ve teamed up
with some friends in the US and kicked off my very own line of T-Shirts.

So what can you expect?
If you’re a fan of the work I’ve done for Threadless, then I think you’re going to like
what we’re creating here. We’re starting with 6 initial shirts for launch, 4 revised
editions of some of my older designs and 2 new ones. We’ll look to add to these
regularly.

How did a New Zealander, start a t-shirt shop in the US?
I teamed up with the guys behind Despair and they’ve helped me get this off the ground.
They’ve got a lot of experience distributing their own stuff with the help of their sister
company, Amplifier, who is handling shirt production, order fulfillment and customer
service for GlennzTees.

Tell me about the Tees!
Alright then- we print GlennzTees exclusively on American Apparel tees- which are
fantastically comfortable and great. It makes it a bit more expensive overall but it’s worth it
for something that feels as great as it looks.

Check them out and buy at Glennz

Your Eyes Lie

markj | | 8:51 pm

In design, as in dancing, the fun depends more on your attitude than on actual innate ability.

It’s not how much you know, but how much you’re willing to try. Think of the amusement of your hips doing the Cha Cha when you’re trying for the Twist or rocking on your head whilst about to try the worm.

This is us, and that’s how we try and do things, were a collective of artists who have grouped together under the umbrella of YEL or Your Eyes Lie - don’t believe everything they tell you…

Your Eyes Lie have a SUPERB range of tshirts available on their site, with bold, striking black and white designs on either grey or white - some of this shit is unreal! They have a huge variety designs for both men and women, and range from £18 to £22 - and realistically I need to remortgage my house and get everything they stock!

Check out EVERYTHING they have - and make sure you’re wallet is ready! Great stuff

IrateMonkey Tshirt app on Facebook

markj | | 8:32 pm

IrateMonkey is a Facebook application that allows people to submit and vote on tshirt designs that users have submitted.

They pay artists 20% of the total profit from their t-shirt (with a $500 minimum), and are located exclusively on Facebook, and they have a monkey as their mascot.

To get the application, check here

About IrateMonkey

How do I score submissions? Once you login to IrateMonkey, all you need to do is go to the ‘voting’ section and start reviewing the designs. Score them by selecting a response from ‘Ewww’, to ‘Awesome’ if you would definitely buy it. You are not actually obligated to buy the shirt, but we get a pretty good idea of how popular a design is from this option.

How are the winners chosen? IrateMonkey looks at the top few hundred designs every couple of weeks and picks from 6 to 10 shirts to print up. First we look at the voting score, the number of ‘Awesome’s, and read all the comments. From this we get a good idea of what you want, and we announce the winners!

I have a picture of myself wearing a winning t-shirt. How do I send it in? Please post your picture to our Facebook Page, IrateMonkey. We look at the new submissions and if you are chosen, we give a free t-shirt of your choosing.

How do I submit a design? You are encouraged to submit as many designs as you want! Once you add the IrateMonkey application, just click the ‘Submit Your Design’ button at the top right of every page and follow the instructions!

Once your design is submitted, if you followed all the directions, after a week or two your design will be posted in the ‘voting’ section and will be voted on by everyone! If you are in the top few rated designs, you have a good chance of being chosen for printing.

What do I win? When your design is chosen, you win $500 cash or 20% of the total net profit from the sale of your design (whichever is more), a chance to win the $10,000 end of the year prize, and some nice perks!

Who’s behind IrateMonkey? Neil Schultz and Mason Browne started IrateMonkey on July 23rd, 2007. Neil is studying at college in Philadelphia, while Mason is a programmer back in Montana where they both grew up. There are also two artists Casey Rathie and Jeremy Kessler who help keep IrateMonkey creatively functioning.

Do you like monkey jokes? Of course, but they drive us bananas.

What is Thinknit LLC? Thinknit LLC is the underlying company IrateMonkey functions through.

How do I get a hold of you? Drop us a line at support@thinknit.net. If the matter is pressing, call us at (215) 386-1435.

Number (N)ine Kurt Kobain Tees

markj | April 25, 2008 | 9:30 am

Number (N)ine has recently released a few tees for 2008. Using Kurt Cobain as their subject once again, this time they made portraits of the rock star by imitating the styles of two of the greatest artists, Van Gogh and Picasso. Always using Kurt Cobain as the subject while applying various design graphics and styles, the folks at Number (N)ine has not only demonstrated their own evolution as a brand, but also show the people the wide range of possibilities that comes with great imagination.

Freshjive - The Good Old Days

markj | April 23, 2008 | 9:00 am

Representing subject matter parallel to the new ongoing feature on Freshjive titled The World’s Got Problems comes Freshjive’s t-shirt collection “The Good Ol’ Days”. Both finding a common denominator in world problems, the politically motivated themes of both the t-shirts and the blog are a interesting take on the ideologies of Freshjive founder Rick Klotz and The World’s Got Problems contributor Jason Rosencrantz.

markj | April 22, 2008 | 5:30 pm

A further series of products have released as part of N. Hoolywood’s retrospective collection “After Sputnik”. The overall theme of the spring/summer collection is the previous look into back and forth battle for space supremacy. These most recent t-shirts are all related to various space events including sequence shots of rocket launches and a symbolic shot of a chimpanzee, who were among the first astronauts used by NASA.
