Upper Playground Grotesk T-shirt Collection
Posted on | August 12, 2010 | No Comments

Upper Playground drop a brand new capsule collection featuring designs from Grotesk. This particular collection is special to Grotesk as it has been made as a homage to one of his favorite illustrators, Wilfred Limonious from Jamaica.
As seen in his artistic style, Grotesk became heavily influenced by Reggae and Dancehall when he was in his late teens in Geneva, Switzerland. Whilst he was looking through his friend’s record collection he discovered the artwork of Wilfred Limonious and as Grotesk puts it: “…symbolizes to Dancehall what the Ultimate Breaks & Beats covers are for Hip Hop”
Recently, upon finding the “Stalag 17-18 and 19″ collection that Wilfred designed, he decided it was a good time to create a collection of graphics in posthumous respect to the body of work. The result of this is these four t-shirts, made as a visual souvenir about the music and the art that he grew up on.
